Welcome to the website for the Bush Fire Front - the alliance against bushfire damage in Western Australia. The aim of our website is to promote better management of fire in forested lands in WA and, in so doing, reduce the incidence and severity of bush fire damage.

Our focus is mainly on the South West part of the State, although there are extensive forests and woodlands outside that zone that also have fire management problems. We will make occasional reference to those problems as well.

Our basic concern is that the standard of bush fire management in Western Australia has declined to a dangerous level. Unless urgent action is taken to improve the situation we believe the State is headed for a major fire disaster. We came perilously close to Canberra-style disaster in the 2005 Perth Hills fire. Too close for comfort!

Our intention with this website is to provide:

* A source of scientific information on bushfire management in forested land in Western Australia.

* An account of activities of the Bush Fire Front aimed at improving the standard of fire management in WA

* Up to date news on important fire management issues facing the State on both private and publicly owned land

* Opinion postings on important regional fire management problems.

The About page introduces the Bush Fire Front (BFF) and sets out why this website has been developed.

The General Information page provides a summary of the main impact of bush fire on WA forests.

The Opinion page presents BFF comments on a number of topical issues connected to fire management and draws attention to some regional problems in the Perth Hills and Leeuwin- Naturaliste Ridge areas.

The last main page provides a glossary of fire management terms, outlines some reference material relevant to forest fire management, and includes some authoritative material for other parts of Australia.

Please browse through our website and realise the need for action, then support us by putting pressure on the State Government to address the situation.

The buttons at the right provide links to our ISP.

enjoy ….. - and be informed
